A set of 100 custom, (bespoke), “Thank You” cards in Jordan Almond blue exclusively from Nancy Sharon Collins, Stationer.
The cards are ultra-thick, 4-ply, 100% Cotton Museum Board. What does 4-ply means? See here for a description of various paper thicknesses and weights.
Each card is beveled, the corners are made into identical radii, then gilded in silver. All of this old-world craftsmanship is done by hand. The envelopes are hand-lined in tissue, too.
The original lettering was drawn by hand with a pencil on paper, in about 1992. Please note that this is not calligraphy. Rather, the letter forms were developed using a unique process whereby Mrs. Collins and the engraver exchanged iterations via fax. Yes, fax, as in a telephonic transmission of scanned printed material. Fax machines were used for communicating text as well as black-and-white art. In this instance, sketches. Remember, the lettering, and the hand engraving, were circa the early 1990s.
