1878 & 1902 Handwriting and Wax Seals

1878 & 1902 Letters (face)1878 & 1902 letters, verso

Found at a Lower Garden District estate sale in New Orleans…2 letters to a Mr. George Sarpy that are of note for as many reasons…multiple wax seals on the back (or “verso”) of one and the front (or “face”) of the other showing dramatic handwriting that we now refer to as calligraphy.

Back then, handwriting was a good skill to have much as computer literacy is today.
