Bespoke, hand-engraved monogram for a gentleman’s stationery wardrobe.
This cipher was a collaboration with the client. Who began the ideating process himself.
Once commissioned, Mrs. Collins progressed through many phases of sketches and modifications. Once approved, the Finished Pencil Sketch was engraved, by hand, on one of our signature, half-inch steel dies.
The letters themselves represent three initials. Can you see them? The gentleman, himself, took on his wife’s last name and his surname is his middle initial. Note that the “G” can also be read as the “D”.
The engraved die was first field-tested in several, custom-mixed inks in various shades and hues of orange.
Clever plays on names and personal initials are elements of creating a truly bespoke monogram.
