This metallic gold bunny is engraved from a sculpted die custom-made for Mrs. Collins. The original art is from drawings she created ages ago for the Estee Lauder corporation. The design was one of a few done for consideration. This one was rejected, which is how it now belongs back in Mrs. Collins’ care. The drawings have been donated to Loyola University New Orleans Special Collections and Archives.
The back of the card is a fancy technique using two hand-inked colors, which is very labor-intensive and time-consuming. When run through the engraving press, the two tons of pressure per square inch forces the two ink colors to mix in the middle, producing a third.
